Covid-19 Update

Governor Herbert Announces Soft Close

Soft Close for All Schools

On Friday, March 13th, Governor Herbert and State Superintendent Sydnee Dickson announced that all schools will be on a soft close status for two weeks effective Monday, March 16th to minimize the spread of Covid-19 aka the coronavirus.

What does this mean for our school?

Since this soft close comes right before the end of the third term and our annual spring break, this only affects two and half days of instruction time (Monday, March 16th to Wednesday, March 18th, Thursday the 19th is a Teacher's Work Day). We have our annual spring break already in the calendar starting Friday, March 20th to Friday, March 27th, with scholars returning to school on Monday, March 30th.

Will packets be available for scholars?

Because the third term ends for us on Wednesday, March 18th, and due to the abrupt closure, the main focus for the next couple of days is for our teaching staff to finalize third term grades and enter them into Aspire. Except for the usual packets our teachers send home with scholars to help them prepare for RISE during the spring break, we will not be providing packets, like other school districts, for now. We want our scholars to enjoy their spring break. However, our administration will continue to actively monitor the situation and if for any reason the soft close continues beyond our planned spring break, we will update our academic plans and keep you informed of our next steps.

Please be safe and use the recommended precautions like social distancing to prevent the spread of infection and to stay healthy. If you have any questions, please send us an email to info@themanaacademy.org
