Hybrid and Remote Learning

On April 5th, 2021, Mana Academy will be switching to a Hybrid and Remote Learning Models.

Starting on Monday, April 5th, 2021, when we return from Spring Break, Mana Academy will begin the fourth term by returning to the classrooms in a hybrid classroom/online model. We will also continue to offer remote learning for the parents who chose remote learning for their scholars.

What does that mean for you and your scholars?

Earlier this year, we sent out an online survey and questionnaire to our school community to solicit feedback on how they would like to end out the school year. We offered several models taken from schools around the nation. The most popular response from our school community was to offer a hybrid model, a combination of in-person instruction and online instruction and to keep the current online model.

Hybrid Model

The Hybrid Model is a combination of in-person classroom instruction and online. Scholars will meet in class with their teachers every Tuesday and Thursday for instruction.

Monday and Wednesday are Independent Work Days. Scholars will be independently working online at home. Teachers will have pre-assigned work for them on Canvas to complete before they meet again in the classroom.

Doors will open at 8:00 am for morning drop off. School will start at 8:30 am and end at 2:30 pm. Pick up is from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Remote Model

The Remote model is a continuation of our current online model with some minor changes. In the Online Model, scholars will meet with their teachers on ZOOM every Monday and Wednesday for online instruction.

Tuesday and Thursdays are Independent Work Days. Scholars will be independently working online at home. Teachers will have pre-assigned work for them on Canvas to complete before they meet online again in Zoom.

For online scholars, school will start at 9:00 am and end at 2:00 pm.

What is Independent Work Day?

Independendent Work Day are days designated for scholars to work independently on pre-assigned work in the Canvas platform. Scholars will not be receiving online instruction or interaction with teachers or mentors on these days. Please remember, these are NOT days off for your scholars.

What about Fridays?

Fridays are intervention days. This is for scholars who need extra support. Based on the needs of the scholar, intervention can be via Zoom or in person. Teachers will make that determination and communicate with scholars and parents when a scholar needs intervention. Otherwise, it is an independent work day for scholars.
