Our third grade scholars recently completed a science project exploring Materials, Properties and Engineering. In this project, they had to solve a complicated problem: how do you build a structure using only paper and paper clips to hold an item that is much heavier, like a textbook? After learning about the mechanical properties of the engineering materials they had to work with, they applied the knowledge they gained and created a 12 inch tower. Afterwards, they tackled a much harder task of constructing a 6 inch platform that successfully held up a textbook. As you can tell from these photos, we have some future engineers here at Mana Academy.
