About the position

Mana Academy is looking for a Paraprofessional Educator to join our team. The Paraprofessional Educator is a valuable member of our instructional team who provides valuable support to scholars as they develop their skills, discover their abilities, and gain confidence in their competencies. In a blended learning environment, the Paraprofessional Educator will serve in the role of a coach, working directly with scholars via phone, email, text and chat to implement interventions, learning strategies, goal setting, help scholars develop habits and skills intended to increase scholar success. 

 

Candidates will be working with a diverse student body and community, so it is imperative that the candidate quickly acclimate to the school culture, actively participates in community building by creating and fostering partnerships with our school community, and attend all training and meetings.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree

  • Bachelor Degree (preferred) equivalent experience, or proof that you are currently working towards a BA degree, this means that you are currently enrolled in college/university as a student

  • Interest in working with children and education 

  • Well-developed emotional intelligence (ability to empathize/sympathize and motivate)

  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Critical thinking, curiosity and good listening skills

  • Comfortable with technology, proficient in communication apps and learning management systems

  • Team-focused, positive attitude and goal oriented

  • Superior organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multitask and work independently

 

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Implementing interventions to help promote scholar success.

  2. Ensuring scholars have the tools, supplies, and support they need to maintain their goals.

  3. Using online tools to monitor and scholar progress.

  4. Works with individual scholars or small groups of scholars to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced in live instruction in the classroom. 

  5. Assists teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an empathetic understanding of individual scholars, their needs, interests, and abilities. 

  6. Performs assigned supervision of scholars during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips. 

  7. When requested, serves as a resource person to the general education and/or IEP/ Title 1/ ELL Team(s).

  8. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about scholars in the school environment and community. 

  9. Participates in in-service training programs as directed by administration.

  10.  Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties. 

  11. Performs other such duties / assignments as directed. 

  12. Assists as directed in the effort to successfully maintain scholars with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the IEP / Title 1 / ELL Team(s).

  13. Assist in morning, lunch, recess duty, and halls. 

  14. Will perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
