Mana Academy LEA-Specific Educator Licensing Policy

Purpose
This policy fulfills the disclosure and public transparency requirements of Utah Admin. Code R277-301-7(10) regarding LEA-specific educator licenses, license areas, and endorsements.


1. Disclosure of LEA-Specific Licensure
In accordance with R277-301-7(10)(a), Mana Academy employs individuals who hold LEA-specific educator licenses, license areas, or endorsements. These licenses are issued to individuals who meet the minimum requirements established by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) but may not have completed a formal educator preparation program.


2. Types of Educator Licenses
Per R277-301-7(10)(b), Mana Academy recognizes the following types of educator licenses:

  • Professional Educator License: Issued to educators who have completed a state-approved educator preparation program and demonstrated content and pedagogical competency.

  • Associate Educator License: Issued to individuals who are currently enrolled in an approved preparation program but have not yet completed the requirements for a professional license.

  • LEA-Specific Educator License: Issued at the discretion of the LEA (Local Education Agency) to individuals who have not completed or are not currently enrolled in a preparation program but demonstrate content knowledge and meet minimum state requirements.


3. Current Licensing Percentages at Mana Academy
In compliance with R277-301-7(10)(c), the following is the distribution of educator licenses at Mana Academy as of October 15, 2024:

 

  • Professional Licenses: 45.7%

  • Associate Licenses: 12.6%

  • LEA-Specific Licenses: 41.7%


These figures reflect both full-time and part-time educators across all instructional roles.


4. Public Access to Educator License Information
As required by R277-301-7(10)(d), the public may access up-to-date licensing information for all Utah educators via the Utah State Board of Education’s Public Educator Look-up Tool at this LINK: https://cactus.schools.utah.gov/PersonSearch
