Mana Academy has been fortunate to host dignitaries, university presidents, celebrities and professional athletes over the 10 years of our existence and most recently, we were honored to host the Princess of Tonga, Her Royal Highness Angelika Lātūfuipeka Tuku'aho, at our secondary campus. Her Royal Highness is currently in the USA on a book tour to promote her new book, Ko e Ngafa ‘o e Fefine pea mo e Tangata Tongá, The Essence of the Tongan Woman and Man: Duties and Responsibilities.
Our Mana scholars presented cultural items for Her Highness they learned in the Tongan Cultural Studies class over the years, including speeches with a formal fakatapu to recognize Her Royal Highness' presence as the highest ranking Tongan in the space, a hiva usu that tells the story of Mana Academy's mission and vision, and a final item consisting of a snippet of Tuaikaepau, the famous composition by Her Highness' great-grandmother, the late Queen Salote Tupou III, written to honor the survivors of the Tuaikaepau vessel that crashed on the Minerva Reef in 1962.
According to the publisher: HRH Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka Tuku’aho gracefully imparts insight to the essence of a Tongan woman and man is best reflected in their duties and responsibilities. The Book further elaborates on the proper ways a Tongan woman and man are to fulfill their duties and responsibilities to their families and to their country.
